Courage Dear Heart

Personal Project: Courage Dear Heart
watercolour, gel pens and ink on A4 size watercolour paper

This quote and illustration was inspired from C. S. Lewis's Voyage of the Dawn Treader, one of the books in his Chronicles of Narnia series.

The trees with sinister eyes represents how often I fear what people think of me. Their tentacles-like roots are ever-ready to imprison me.

The girl placed her trust in the all-knowing Alsan, the lion. When she was blindfolded so as not to be distracted by the frightening sights she might see in the forest. It helped her to focus better, walking by faith and not by sight.

The lion will eventually guide the girl towards a safe and serene landscape, as long as she keeps trusting him.
